October kicks off my favorite time of the year! Anniversaries, leaves changing colors, cool breezes, and Halloween! My husband and I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary! It still amazes me how long we have been together! All the trials and tribulations we have faced and still face today! In our 34 years together, we have endured the loss of our daughter Nicole, Lonnie's father, our brother-in-law, many aunts, uncles, grandparents, and recently, my mother. We haven't always had the best relationship, but we were always determined to work at it! Today I feel as if we have one of the best and strongest relationship I could have ever asked for. We spend pretty much every day and night together. Yes, we still have times where we get on each other's nerves or do something stupid that upsets one another, but we are able to talk through it and move forward. I look forward to what the future holds. Hopefully a wedding and some grandbabies!
October is also my favorite time to decorate. As the leaves start to change, I love putting up all my vibrant orange, brown, and yellow decorations! Each year I try to add, change, and/or replace some element of my decor. It's something fun and challenging that I look forward to doing. I think I drive my hubby crazy with all my decorations. I have an entire room above our garage filled with totes that are labeled my months or holidays with my decorations. I probably have 10-15 large ones for just Christmas alone!
So, as I kick off my favorite season, I will reflect on this past year with its many ups and downs. However, I still feel so blessed to have my family, friends, and health to keep me going! I look forward to seeing what the next couple of months will bring. I'm really ready to put this very hard year behind me. But for now, I will step outside and enjoy the beauty of the fall colors, the cooler air, and the return of warmer clothes and boots!
